Care built around a Tysons Corner workday

Tysons Corner holds two economies in the same few blocks. There is the one in the towers, with consulting firms, defense contractors, and finance and technology employers including Capital One, and there is the one that keeps Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria running: sales staff, restaurant crews, hotel and building services, security, and the people who open the doors before the offices fill up. Both groups work long hours. Both find that the search for a Tysons Corner psychiatrist ends at a waitlist or an appointment slot that would cost them a shift.

Anh "Alice" Tran, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, is a dual board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner, licensed in Virginia, treating adults 18 to 65. Most Tysons Corner patients are seen by secure video. For anyone who would rather sit in a room, the office is at 3060 Williams Drive, Suite 300, Fairfax, VA 22031, in the Merrifield area, with free parking on site.

Services

What this practice actually provides

Psychiatric evaluation. The first appointment is a full 60 minutes, which is long enough to get the order of events right. When did this start, what was happening at the time, what have you already tried, what happened when you tried it, how are you sleeping, how much caffeine is holding the day together, and what does an ordinary shift feel like from the inside. People working in Tysons Corner often arrive with a label assigned quickly somewhere else. Part of the evaluation is checking whether that label still describes what is going on.

Medication management. If medication is a reasonable step, the reasoning is explained before anything is written: what it is meant to do, roughly how long that takes, what to watch for in the first two weeks, and what happens if it is not a fit. Doses follow your response rather than a fixed script. Medication management across Virginia is described in more detail on its own page. Controlled medications, including stimulants for ADHD, are handled under Virginia requirements, which can mean an in-person visit at the Fairfax office.

Supportive therapy. Follow-ups are conversations, not a checklist and a refill. That might mean untangling whether to leave a job, naming a pattern that keeps repeating, or protecting sleep through a stretch of overtime. Follow-ups run 30 or 45 minutes depending on how much ground there is to cover. If what you need is structured, longer-term therapy, Alice will tell you plainly and help you find it, and she coordinates with therapists you already see. The services page has the full picture.

What we hear

Why Tysons Corner adults get in touch

The pressures here are not abstract. They tend to arrive attached to a commute, a lease, a shift schedule, or a title.

A commute that exists inside Tysons

The Silver Line runs through, and people still drive. Between garages, service roads, and a crossing that is easier by car than on foot, a two mile trip can eat forty minutes. Time lost this way is rarely counted, but it shows up as a shorter evening and a shorter fuse.

Shift work that fights sleep

Opening one day, closing the next, then a double on Saturday. Rotating hours pull sleep apart, and unstable sleep amplifies anxiety, low mood, and attention problems. It is also one of the more workable places to begin.

The cost of staying

Rent near Tysons Corner takes a share of income that would sound implausible elsewhere, which is why so many people here hold two jobs or five roommates. Financial pressure that never resolves reads clinically a lot like chronic stress, because that is what it is.

Hours that quietly expanded

Nobody announced the change. A 6:30 PM sign-off became 8:00, then messages resumed after dinner. Anxiety often shows up first as checking, then as trouble falling asleep, then as dread that starts Sunday afternoon.

Performing composure

Client-facing work rewards a steady surface. Retail and hospitality require it by policy. Holding a pleasant face for eight hours while something heavy sits underneath is genuinely tiring, and people rarely name it until they are exhausted.

Moved here for the job, know almost nobody

Tysons Corner draws people from other states and other countries on a two year plan that becomes five. Without local family, ordinary bad weeks have nothing to lean on, and holidays land harder than expected.

Conditions

Concerns treated for adults here

Care covers adult psychiatry, with attention to how a condition behaves in your actual week rather than only how it reads on a form.

Attention. ADHD in adults, including people who were diagnosed as teenagers and stopped treatment, and people whose workarounds held until a promotion or a second job broke them. The free adult ADHD self-check and the ADHD treatment page are both open to read first.

Anxiety, panic, and OCD. Generalized anxiety, panic attacks that get mistaken for cardiac events, and obsessive compulsive patterns that eat hours. The GAD-7 screener can help you put words to it, and anxiety treatment explains the options.

Mood. Depression, including the kind that still hits every deadline, along with bipolar disorder and grief that has outlasted what anyone expected. The PHQ-9 and the depression treatment page are available too.

Trauma, burnout, and sleep. PTSD and trauma responses, including trauma from long before you arrived in Virginia, burnout that has moved past tiredness, and insomnia. Postpartum and perinatal mood changes are treated as well.

Video or in person

How Tysons Corner patients are usually seen

Video is the default, and near Tysons Corner it is usually the sensible one. A 30 minute follow-up taken from a parked car or a spare room costs you 30 minutes instead of an afternoon spent on Route 7 and a garage ramp. Visits are by video only, never by telephone, and they take place at doxy.me/alicetran, which opens in a browser with no app and no account. You need to be physically in Virginia during the appointment.

In-person visits happen at the Fairfax office, roughly fifteen minutes away outside of rush hour, with free parking that does not involve circling a mall deck. Plenty of patients mix the two: come in when something significant is changing, use video the rest of the time. Either way it is the same provider. The Northern Virginia telehealth page covers how virtual care runs across the region.

Your first visit

What the first hour looks like

Intake paperwork arrives ahead of time so the appointment is not spent filling in boxes. Answer what you can, skip what you cannot, and bring the rest to the conversation. Insurance is verified beforehand, so you know the cost before you show up rather than three weeks later.

For a video visit, open the link a few minutes early. The first stretch is just talking. Alice usually starts with why now, since the timing of a decision to get help tends to be informative on its own. From there the conversation moves through symptoms, history, medical background, and anything you currently take, including supplements and anything prescribed by another clinician. She then tells you what she is thinking and why, in plain language, before any plan is set. You leave with something you agreed to. Most people book a first follow-up two to four weeks later.

Why this practice

What a small practice does differently

You see Alice every time. Not a rotating panel, not the next available name. In psychiatry the useful information accumulates, and the person who remembers what happened when a dose changed in March is the person best positioned to decide what to try in September.

The training behind that matters. Alice trained under psychiatrist Dr. Errol Segall, MD, who has over 50 years of clinical experience, and she holds dual board certification in psychiatric mental health and family practice. The family practice side means thyroid function, anemia, sleep apnea, and interactions with medications you already take get considered rather than skipped, which matters a great deal when the main complaint is fatigue or fog.

Pricing is published and flat. Self-pay is $400 for the 60 minute initial visit, $200 for a 30 minute follow-up, and $250 for a 45 minute follow-up, with no memberships and no hidden fees. Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Medicare, and Medicaid are accepted and verified before your first appointment. Current details live on the rates page, and you can read more about Alice.

Visits can happen fully in English or fully in Tiếng Việt with no interpreter present, including switching between them mid-sentence. Vietnamese-language psychiatric care has more on that.

Communities on either side

Tysons Corner sits at a hinge point, so patients often come from the neighborhoods pressed up against it. Alice also sees adults across Tysons, McLean, Vienna, Falls Church, Pimmit Hills, Merrifield, Fairfax, and Arlington. Telehealth reaches anywhere in Virginia as long as you are in the state at the time of the visit.

Questions

Tysons Corner questions, answered

Are there appointment times that work if I am on a retail or restaurant schedule?

Regular hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern, and evening or weekend times may be available on request. Say so when you book or when you call or text (703) 791-9099, and we will look at what can be arranged. Appointments are booked one at a time rather than as a standing weekly slot, so a schedule that changes every two weeks is not a problem.

There is nowhere private in my building. Where do people actually take a video visit?

Most often a parked car in a garage, a booked meeting room, or a room at home with the door shut and headphones in. You need privacy and a stable connection, not a perfect setting. Visits open in a browser at doxy.me/alicetran with nothing to install.

Is Tysons Corner close enough that in-person visits make sense?

For many people, yes. The office at 3060 Williams Drive, Suite 300, Fairfax, VA 22031 is a short drive down Route 123 or Gallows Road, in the Merrifield area, with free on-site parking. A common pattern is an in-person evaluation first, then video for follow-ups, or the reverse if you would rather start from home.

My employer switched carriers in January. Does that disrupt care I already started?

It does not have to. Tell the office as soon as you know, and the new plan is verified before your next visit so you are not guessing about cost. Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Medicare, and Medicaid are accepted, and self-pay rates are published if the new plan is a poor fit.

Can a prescription go to a pharmacy near Tysons Corner Center?

Yes. Prescriptions are sent electronically to whichever pharmacy is easiest for you, whether that is near the malls, near your apartment, or near your other job. If you move or change pharmacies, just say so at your next visit.

I am here on a work visa. Does getting psychiatric treatment affect my status?

That is an immigration question rather than a clinical one, and an immigration attorney is the right person to answer it. What can be said here is that your records are protected health information and are not shared with an employer or any outside party without your written authorization.

What happens if the video freezes partway through my appointment?

You rejoin the same link at doxy.me/alicetran and the visit picks up where it stopped. If you cannot get back in, the office will call to help you reconnect so the appointment finishes on video.

I have had three providers in two years because of job changes. Can this be the one that sticks?

That is the intent. You see Alice at every visit rather than whoever is available, and because telehealth covers all of Virginia, moving from Tysons to another part of the state does not end the relationship. You do have to be physically in Virginia during each visit.

Can adult ADHD be evaluated if nobody ever looked at it when I was a child?

Yes. A large share of adult evaluations involve people who were never assessed, often because they did well enough in school that nothing was flagged. The evaluation looks at your history going back to childhood as well as how attention affects work and home now. The free adult ADHD self-check on this site is a reasonable place to start before you book.

I want to talk things through and would rather not start medication. Is that workable?

Yes. Medication is one option, not a requirement. Supportive therapy is part of every visit, and if your situation calls for structured longer-term therapy, Alice will say so and help you find a therapist rather than stretching this practice past what it does well.

Who do I contact if things get bad at two in the morning?

Call or text 988. This practice is not a crisis service and messages are not monitored around the clock. If you are in immediate danger, go to the nearest emergency department.
