ADHD Care in Virginia

Adult ADHD Treatment
Across Virginia

From Arlington to Virginia Beach to Roanoke, Virginia adults wait months for ADHD care that often turns out to be a fifteen-minute quiz. Alice Tran, PMHNP-BC offers the opposite: careful multi-visit evaluations and engaged medication management, in person in Fairfax or by telehealth anywhere in Virginia.

ADHD care

Treatment that starts with an accurate answer.

Adult ADHD is real, common, and badly underdiagnosed, especially in women, high achievers, and adults who got good grades by working three times harder than everyone around them. It is also overdiagnosed by quiz-mill telehealth apps that hand out stimulants after one questionnaire. Both failures come from the same shortcut: skipping the evaluation. ADHD shares symptoms with anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and thyroid problems, and a diagnosis that ignores those is a guess.

The evaluation here takes two to three visits: a complete psychiatric history first, then structured ADHD assessment using validated tools, your own self reports, and collateral input from someone who knows you well. If formal neuropsychological testing would genuinely add value, such as for suspected learning disorders, Alice says so honestly; most adults do not need it.

Treatment is built around your actual life: stimulant or non-stimulant medication when appropriate, adjusted with real follow-up rather than auto-refills; practical strategies for the executive-function side of work and home; and treatment of the anxiety or depression that decades of untreated ADHD so often produce. Appointments are in person at the Fairfax office or by secure telehealth anywhere in Virginia, in English or Tiếng Việt, with most major insurance accepted.

Medication, managed properly

Stimulants and non-stimulants, dose fine-tuning, shortage workarounds, and honest side-effect conversations at every follow-up.

ADHD in women & late diagnosis

Masking, hormones, and the inattentive type mean women are missed for decades. The evaluation is built to catch what screenings skip.

Quick answers

ADHD questions from Virginia patients

How long does an ADHD evaluation take?

Plan on two to three visits. Visit one is a complete psychiatric history; the diagnosis and treatment plan come together at visit two or three. Details are on the evaluation process page.

Can stimulants be prescribed by telehealth in Virginia?

Yes, when clinically appropriate, with prescriptions sent electronically to your local Virginia pharmacy and the same monitoring standards as in-person care.

Do you take insurance for ADHD care?

Yes. Most major plans are accepted, including Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, and Medicare. See Rates for specifics.

I was treated as a teenager and stopped. Can I restart?

Yes, with a fresh look first. Adult ADHD presents differently, and the right treatment now may not be what worked at 15. Old records help; bring whatever you have.
