Burnout Treatment in Virginia

Running on empty
is not a personality trait.

Burnout is not a sign of weakness. It's what happens when you give too much for too long without enough support, rest, or recovery.

Understanding Burnout

Burnout is a state of chronic exhaustion - emotional, physical, and mental - that develops when demands consistently exceed your capacity to recover. It's common among caregivers, healthcare workers, high achievers, parents, and anyone who has spent years putting everyone else's needs before their own.

While not a formal psychiatric diagnosis on its own, burnout frequently co-occurs with depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders - and it can be a precursor to more serious mental health conditions if left unaddressed. It deserves real attention, not a prescription to "just rest more."

Burnout in immigrant communities and high-performing professionals often carries an additional layer: the pressure to keep achieving, to not appear weak, and to manage everything without complaint. These cultural expectations make recovery harder - and more necessary.

How I can help

Burnout requires more than a vacation. In our work together, I'll help you understand what's depleting you - biologically, psychologically, and situationally - and build a plan that addresses the actual causes, not just the symptoms. We'll look at sleep, stress load, relationship dynamics, and what you need to feel like yourself again.

Depending on what we find, medication may help address underlying depression or anxiety that's compounding the burnout. Supportive therapy and psychoeducation are also part of how I work. All sessions are via telehealth across Virginia, available in English and Tiếng Việt.
