Region-wide care

One practice, every county in Northern Virginia

Most Northern Virginia patients choose video visits, because a thirty-minute follow-up should not cost an hour on I-66 or the Beltway. The office at 3060 Williams Drive in Fairfax, near the Merrifield and Mosaic District area off Route 29, is there for the first visit, for anyone who wants a face-to-face evaluation, and for patients who simply prefer a room to a screen. You can switch between the two at any point.

Wherever you live in the region, the care is the same: the same three-visit evaluation, the same prescriber at every visit, and the same follow-up schedule. The differences are practical, and the city pages address them: parking and transit for in-person visits near Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria, and pharmacy and lab logistics for patients in Loudoun and Prince William.

Why it goes unrecognized here

ADHD in a region built on high performance

Northern Virginia has one of the most educated workforces in the country, and that is exactly the population in which adult ADHD hides longest. Federal employees, contractors, attorneys, engineers, clinicians, and military families compensate with long hours, elaborate systems, and deadline pressure, and they arrive for evaluation in their thirties or forties when a promotion, a new baby, or remote work finally breaks the system.

Two concerns come up in this region more than anywhere else. The first is security clearance: an ADHD diagnosis and treatment, by themselves, are not disqualifying, and a treated, stable condition is generally viewed more favorably than an untreated one. The second is whether a stimulant is compatible with a demanding job; for most adults it is what makes the job sustainable, and non-stimulant options exist for those who cannot or prefer not to take one.

The evaluation

How an ADHD evaluation works here

An adult ADHD diagnosis at this practice takes three visits, by design. Rushing it produces wrong answers in both directions.

Neuropsychological testing is not required for a diagnosis and is referred out only when the picture is unclear, such as a possible learning disorder, autism, head injury, or memory concern.

Medication by video

Stimulants and non-stimulants across Northern Virginia

As a practice, every visit is in person or by real-time video, never by telephone. That policy is what allows stimulant medication to be prescribed and managed by video for patients anywhere in the region. Prescriptions go electronically to the pharmacy you choose; patients in Loudoun and Prince William sometimes find a particular stimulant in stock more reliably at one chain than another, and the office can help with that.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I live in Loudoun or Prince William. Do I ever have to come to Fairfax?

No. The full evaluation and all follow-ups can be done by video. The Fairfax office is available if you want an in-person visit at any point, and some patients choose it for the first appointment and video afterward.

Can I switch between video and in-person visits?

Yes, visit by visit. Many patients come to the Fairfax office for the initial evaluation and use video for follow-ups, or come in once or twice a year. Tell the office when you book.

Can stimulant medication be prescribed over video in Northern Virginia?

Yes. Because every visit at this practice is by real-time video or in person, stimulant medication can be prescribed and managed remotely for Virginia residents. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy.

Will an ADHD diagnosis affect my security clearance?

A diagnosis of ADHD, or treatment for it, is not by itself disqualifying. Clearance reviews focus on reliability and judgment; a treated, stable condition is generally viewed favorably. If you have a specific form or question, bring it to the visit.

What are the office hours, and are there evening visits?

Visits are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in person or by video. There are no evening or weekend appointments at this time.

Is the evaluation available in Vietnamese?

Yes. The full evaluation and follow-up visits can be conducted in Vietnamese, and a Vietnamese-speaking coordinator can help with scheduling at (703) 791-9786.
