About this practice

Care for a community that rarely gets to slow down.

Woodbridge is one of Northern Virginia’s hardest-working communities, and one of its most diverse: families from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and everywhere in between, federal workers and contractors, service members and civilians connected to Quantico just down I-95, and thousands of commuters who give the road two or three hours a day. When life is built around work, family obligations, and a brutal commute, mental health is usually the line item that gets cut first.

The result is a pattern Alice knows well: anxiety that gets absorbed as tension headaches and short tempers, depression that hides behind "just tired," ADHD that was never caught in school and now makes juggling shifts and kids feel impossible, and stress that has been running so long it feels like personality. In many immigrant households, there is an extra layer: the belief that struggling silently is what responsible adults do.

Alice Tran is a dual board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC), the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, and a clinician who treats first-generation stress as a real clinical matter. She sees adults 18 to 65 for anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and burnout, providing evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy in English and Vietnamese.

Every appointment for Woodbridge patients is available by secure telehealth: no fighting I-95, no waiting room, visits from home in Lake Ridge, Dale City, or off Prince William Parkway. The Fairfax office is available when an in-person visit is preferred. Most major insurance plans are accepted, including Medicaid and Medicare, and new patients are typically seen within one to two weeks.

The I-95 commuter

Hours in traffic have a documented mental health cost. Treatment here never adds another drive to your week.

Military-connected families

Quantico is close, and so are the stresses of military life: deployments, PCS moves, and the transition to civilian work.

First & second generation adults

Working for two generations at once, in a second language, deserves care that understands the weight. Tiếng Việt available.

Shift workers & two-job households

Appointments that flex around real schedules, because burnout does not keep office hours.

Your first appointment

What the first appointment involves

It starts with an hour-long evaluation by secure video: an unhurried conversation about what brought you in, your sleep, energy, mood, focus, health history, and work and family life. Nothing you share will shock anyone, and you control the depth on anything painful. If English is not your most comfortable language, the entire visit can happen in Vietnamese.

You finish with a diagnosis explained plainly, a treatment plan you actually understand, and, when medication is appropriate, a prescription at your Woodbridge pharmacy the same day. The first follow-up comes two to four weeks later to adjust based on how things are really going.

Medication management

Medication management with real follow-through

Alice manages the full range of psychiatric medications: antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, stimulant and non-stimulant ADHD treatments, mood stabilizers, and sleep medications. Selection is personal: your symptoms, your medical history, your work schedule, and your own priorities about side effects all shape the choice.

Follow-ups happen on a real schedule, closer together while doses are adjusted and spaced out once you are stable, and refill questions between visits get answered. If cost is a concern, say so: generic options and insurance realities are part of every prescribing conversation here.

Supportive psychotherapy

Supportive psychotherapy, built into visits

Medication treats symptoms; conversation treats situations. Appointments include supportive psychotherapy focused on the practical: managing the commute-and-two-jobs load, family expectations, the habits that feed insomnia, and the thought patterns anxiety and depression run on.

When structured weekly therapy would help, whether CBT, couples work, or trauma-focused care, Alice connects you with therapists, including Spanish- and Vietnamese-speaking options when needed, and coordinates so everyone treats the same plan.

Quick answers

Questions from Woodbridge patients

Do I have to come to Fairfax for appointments?

No. Woodbridge patients are seen by secure telehealth, and most stay that way because it beats I-95. The Fairfax office is there if you ever want an in-person visit.

Do you take Medicaid?

Yes. Most major plans are accepted, including Medicaid, Medicare, Aetna, Anthem, and Cigna. Coverage is verified before your first appointment.

Can you do the whole visit in Vietnamese?

Yes, completely: evaluation, medication discussion, and follow-ups, with no interpreter. Family members are welcome to join when that helps.

I am connected to Quantico. Do you work with TRICARE or military families?

Alice sees military-connected adults regularly; contact the office to verify current insurance participation for your specific plan, and know that care here is private and independent of any command structure.

How quickly can I get a first appointment?

Usually within one to two weeks. Prince William County waitlists commonly run months, which is exactly the gap telehealth closes.

What conditions do you treat most in Woodbridge?

Anxiety, depression, and adult ADHD lead the list, followed by insomnia, PTSD, and burnout, often in combination, which is why the first evaluation looks at the whole picture.

Can appointments happen in the evening from my car?

Appointments run Monday through Thursday, 9 to 4, and yes, a parked car on a lunch break is one of the most common telehealth "offices" in this practice.

Is a referral required?

No. You can book directly online at any time, and most patients do.
