What it removes is also real: no prior authorization before a medication can be tried, no visit length dictated by a billing code, no claim, and no psychiatric diagnosis reported to a health plan that may follow you into future underwriting decisions.
It also removes the waiting. Much of the delay in Oregon psychiatry is not clinical, it is administrative. Skipping that machinery is a large part of why new patients here are usually seen in one to two weeks rather than six months.
Rates are flat and published. There is no facility fee, no separate charge for the prescription itself, and no bill that arrives weeks later with a number you did not expect.
Up to 60 minutes by secure video. Your history, current concerns, and life context, ending with a plan you understand and agreed to.
Medication management and supportive therapy. Early on visits may be every two weeks, then they space out as things stabilize.
For visits that need more room, whether that is a complicated medication change or a harder stretch of life.
Because you are self-pay, federal law entitles you to a written estimate of expected costs before care begins. Ask for one and it will be provided.
This practice does not file claims for Oregon patients and does not participate with Oregon health plans. Whether your plan reimburses anything for an out-of-plan provider is a question for your plan, and the answer is often no. Please do not book on the assumption that you will be reimbursed.
Under the federal No Surprises Act, patients who are not using insurance have the right to a written estimate of what their care is expected to cost. You can ask for one before your first visit. If a final bill ends up at least $400 above the estimate, you have the right to dispute it.
Psychiatric visits are generally an eligible medical expense, so HSA and FSA cards are commonly used. Your plan administrator is the final word on what your specific account allows.
At the time of the visit. A receipt is provided for your records.
A missed visit or a cancellation with less than 24 hours notice is charged $100. The reason is simple: that hour was held for you and cannot be given to someone else on short notice.
