The Commonwealth of Virginia health plan covers employees of state agencies and Virginia public colleges and universities, along with their families. The medical network is administered by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which is why your card carries the Anthem logo even though the plan is the Commonwealth’s.

Behavioral health is a covered medical benefit under the Commonwealth plan. In practice, that means the visits below are billed to Anthem the same way any other specialist visit would be.

What is my copay for an outpatient behavioral health visit, have I met my deductible, and is telehealth covered at the same rate as an office visit?
Confirm the provider type
Ask whether a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, or PMHNP, is covered the same as a psychiatrist. On the Commonwealth plan the answer is yes, but it is good to hear it from them.

We see adults, including covered spouses and adult dependents. We do not currently treat young children.
